My name is Joy Coonfield, LM (Licensed Midwife)

I am a home birth midwife licensed by the state of Arkansas. I live in the small town of Gravette in Northwest Arkansas. (15 miles from Bentonville) I serve in Northwest Arkansas (includes: Gravette, Decatur, Gentry, Centerton, Bentonville, Hiwassee, Bella Vista, Rogers, Springdale, Fayetteville, Siloam Springs), Northeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Missouri.

I have been actively involved in home birth since 2001. I provide prenatal care, midwifery assistance for home birth, postpartum care, assistance with breastfeeding, water birth, childbirth education, nutrition education. I believe homebirth gives you so many more options and choices you may not have anywhere else. Midwifery for me is more than a service; it is a ministry.

Labor is a spiritual experience of enormous importance to both the woman and her baby.  While women experience various life-changing events during pregnancy, the experience of giving birth is so significant that most women in old age continue to remember their birth experience as though they had happened yesterday.  This makes the totality of birth experience one of the most pivotal in a woman’s life.
